Philanthropy

Private philanthropic support enables Children’s of Alabama to provide exceptional care to children around the state and beyond. The Nasoalveolar Molding (NAM) program is a great example. Children’s is able to offer this pre-surgical cleft lip and palate therapy thanks to a generous gift from The Bill and Pam Smith Family Foundation. The family’s donation was inspired by, and dedicated to, their daughter Caroline, who was born with a cleft palate in 2019. With NAM not being available in Alabama at the time, the family had to travel back and forth to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for treatment. They made the donation to help create the program at Children’s so other kids in Alabama and throughout the region would have access to it.

Chick-fil-A made a difference in the lives of patients at Children’s through the annual Chick-fil-A Picks for Kids program. For every Alabama or Auburn interception during football season, Chick-fil-A donates money to the Charity League Hearing and Speech Clinic at Children’s to provide comprehensive evaluation and therapy services for children requiring inpatient and outpatient treatment.

The Children’s Ball returned in 2022. Presented by Protective, the event is the hospital’s largest annual fundraiser. Families, physicians and community supporters gathered in person for the first time in two years for a night of giving with silent and live auctions, a seated dinner and a lively after-party. The event raises money for the hospital’s greatest needs.
